About
We are Jay and Alex Verstraeten Richaut, identical twin brothers who are aspiring film scorers and music lovers. We both got our Bachelors in “Music Production & Sound Engineering” from dBs Music Berlin in October 2019 – and yes, we’re just that identical that we chose the same course!
Jay is a drummer & percussionist, Alex is a guitarist, bassist and keyboardist. We are both score composers, audio engineers and sound designers. Together, we form “Irregular Blue”, an alias under which we work together on diverse musical projects.
The projects that we have scored so far have been short student films. In 2018, we scored “Detective by Chance” (or Detektiv Durch Zufall), directed by Michael Zemke for SAE Institute Berlin. In 2019, we collaborated with students from the University of Salford (Manchester) for two final bachelor project films: “Fantopia” directed by Lewis Evers (Crimson Armadillo productions), and “Pinebox by the Bedside” directed by Dom Birmingham.
The portfolio of films that we’ve scored can be found in the “Portfolio” section up top, where you’ll also find rescores (adding our own original score on top of an already existing film scene) that we’ve done to film scenes for demonstration purposes.
When we aren’t working on media-related productions, we form the duo “Irregular Blue“, under which we collaborate to compose jazz, funk, trip-hop & psychedelic influenced music. Find more information about Irregular Blue here, or click on the Irregular Blue (Band) section up top.
